VIdeo Capture Issue

I am capturing some short clips through firewire. When playing the tape through video capture, it looks and sounds good. During capture the audio and video is a little broken up. After capture the video looks good but the audio is horribly broken and scratchy.

I have tried using different cameras, different cables, and capturing to different hard drive with the same result. THis is a new problem with nothing having changed in my set up or with my computer.

Could it be the sound card? I am not sure of the impact of the sound card on capturing. The system presently uses the motherboard for processing sound.

I appreciate any ideas or assistance.

Just a wild suggestion here when I had a similar situation when capturing my HDV tape....
I ran my "crap cleaner" and "spybot" and didnt' realize how much junk had accumulated on my drive and once cleaned up the audio and video captured correctly.

I had reinstalled the operating system a few weeks ago and I do not believe I turned the spybot back on. What is crap cleaner?

THings are well. I never would have guessed that spyware was the problem.

People who put this crap on our machines should be shot.

Did the "spybot" solve your capture problems?

"Crap Cleaner" is the real name of a FREE download a computer repair shop installed on my "internet"computer about a year ago. It is a utility that cleans up all kinds of junk on your drive(s) according to how you set it up....
I run it about once a week on my email/internet machine and also on my "video" computer because I do occassionally go online with that one and even though its rare I had managed to pick up a lot of junk that was messing up my Vegas captures. I love free "repairs" that work!
Good luck,
