video capture question

I just started using Vegas Video today. This is my first experience using NLE. I have a question about capturing video. When the video I want to capture plays on the computer screen, it looks blurry compared to when I view it on the screen on my camcorder and my television. Is this normal or is there a reason why it's not coming out as sharp as it does on my camcorder and tv?

"blurry video on computer..."

The video will most always look different on the computer than it will on a TV. Unless you have a really great TV hooked to your system your computer monitor can display a ton more colors, has different brightness and contrast, and much better resolution than a TV. You can set the playback resolution in the preview window between draft, preview, good, and best quality. If you playback at best quality you will probably lose more frames playing back (this doesn't affect the final render). I usually use preview quality when I have lots of composites and best when I'm doing a simple project. You can set it right in the toolbar on the preview window.
