Hi Folks...I am a babe in the woods at the video editing world...I want to use my existing Dv500 Pinnacle capture card and break out box with Vegas 5.0...I am having trouble getting Vegas to regonize any device hooked up to the Pinnacle break out box...Any suggestions? I am just trying to capture some video clips off a VHS tape and safe them to later make a DVD...If I am able to make this set-up work...Is there a capture limit to Vegas?

I appreciate any help I can get!

Can't do it....Sorry. RAther, not easily. Pinnacle doesn't use OHCI drivers in the DV500 unless you have the RED board. The GREEN board is not OHCI. Even then, this board is finicky.
You then need to UNINSTALL all Pinnacle drivers/software, then load the TI driverset. If you're using Premiere, it will still work with the DV500 and the OHCI drivers/TI drivers.

If all else fails, Scenalyzer has historically worked very well with a wide varitey of hardware, even non-OHCI stuff; especially Pinncale hardware.

I used it (Scenalyzer) for a good while with a Studio 8 breakout box.

See www.scenalyzer.com

Great program.

Consider your 500 a brick. That is what I did with my Pro-One. Just get a Canopus ADVC-100 and use it to convert your analog material.

What's the difference between the Red Board and Green board?

I thought the 4.5 version of the DV500 drivers were OHCI compliant. This still does not get you analog, but the firewire should work.

Also you should be able to capture analog through Premiere and then edit in Vegas, right? They may have to be so workarounds, but perhaps folks on this board can explain.
