Video Cards & Vegas

I'm configuring a new PC and I don't know much about video cards for vga display. Do I need some highfalutin maxed out card or will a simpler one do. I plan to preview all video on a ntsc monitor. Is there any advantage in terms of clarity/accuracy with a higher end agp 8x card, or are these developed more for gamers?

Thanks for any help with this.

You are right to ask about maxed out game cards. More RAM on the mother board will probably serve most people better than a lot on the video card. I say "most," because there is one thing major to consider. If you use something like Boris RED 3GL, which has Open GL capabilities, those maxed out video cards, IF they are OGL compliant, will allow you SUPER speed in certain instances (Not final rendering), such as when you are previewing. RED is quite expensive, but just in case you DO use it, or something like it, you need to take that into consideration.
