Video changes when I import it? I need help please

So I use Vegas Movie Studio for editing video game clips to post to Youtube. And I have a 17 second clip I need to edit out of a 25 minute clip. Okay sounds pretty simple, right? (Especially because I have done it a thousand times before) But if I look at the raw video that is saved in "my videos," the clip I want is at 20:40. So I import it into Vegas Movie Studio and if I go to 20:40, it's at a completely different place in the video! Now, i watched the videos side by side from the raw video in my videos and on the preview space in Vegas and at 20:40 it's still in the wrong spot. In fact, the clip I want doesn't even show up in the video at all. I even tried to do it in Movie Maker and I had the same problem. I don't understand how if I just bring up the raw video and skip to 20:40, the clip is right there, but if I watch the video all the way through, I can't find it at all! I don't know, maybe I'm just stupid. And the fact that Movie Maker does the same thing tells me that it's not a problem with Vegas. So maybe I'm asking in the wrong place, but I don't know where else to turn to and I figure if anybody knows how to help me, it will be you people on this forum. So please, please somebody help me out. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!

Thanks you guys

What are the specs of the video? What model of camcorder is the video coming from and what format and resolution is it?

Did you use Movie Studio to get the video from the camcorder to your computer?

Your video has a corrupted timecode. VideoReDo has a Quick Stream Fix feature that should be able to correct it.
