Video clip stops playing in DVDA 4.5d

I'm using DVD Architect 4.5d (Build 107) on Vista Home Premium 3 gig ram, AMD 8450 triple core processor 2.1 ghz.

I have 4 short films rendered using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum ProPack 9.0a (build 85) into mpg and AC3 files. The settings were the DVD templates under VMS 9.0a. I created a simple menu using DVDA 4.5d and created a DVD.

3 movies play without issue except for this one movie - lets call it "BLUE". Blue is about 16 minutes long. The mpg file is complete and so is the AC3 file. Problem is using the F9 preview feature and\or using a burned DVD copy, Blue always exits in the middle of the movie without playing through to the end of the movie. I tested the mpg file and AC3 file and they are without problems. They will play correctly and right to the end on Moviemaker or some other mpg player. All other mpgs for that DVD work fine.

I have already tried deleting the mpg and rendering a new one but with the same result. Any ideas?

Have you checked the Out point for Blue to make sure it's at the end where it belongs? Navigate into the movie within DVD Architect and look at the timeline.

Thanks Rob. I eventually found out the mistake I made. I had simply copied and pasted a menu item and edited its name to create a new media link. This led to a mismatch in the time duration of the event and the actual video clips event as defined in MEDIA PROPERTIES. Once I corrected this, everything plays fine.

The fix is to INSERT MEDIA and selecting the mpeg file and creating a new item on the menu instead of copying and pasting a menu item and editing it.

Yes, I have had this same behavior, and the fix you shared is valid, although not the only one. Thanks for sharing.

Can you share another way to fix this problem?

The reason I did the cut and paste job was to avoid needing to format the MENU ITEM's appearance again. If there is another way, I would welcome it.

One way would be to just do what you've been doing, and then fix the duration. It's determined by the In and Out points I mentioned earlier. Just click and drag the Out point (the second yellow flag) to the end of the timeline.

Another way would be to add your media as a new item, right-click the button you want to "copy" and choose Copy; then right-click the new item, choose Paste Attributes and then the attribute you want to apply.

Third option would be to apply a theme to your project, and then all the buttons use the same appearance. If none of the included themes suit your project, create your own.
