Video CODECS suddenly missing

NeilPorter wrote on 6/17/2003, 9:14 PM
Hello All,

When I click on the Render As button it defaults to MP3 and displays ONLY audio CODECS. There is no way I can find the video CODECS and then render a video in this manner. However, if I choose Render to New Track everything is OK and back to the way it always used to be. i.e. all the video CODECS are available and I can render as usual. I have no idea why this has suddenly occurred. I can still keep working but it's not right.

I am using Vegas 4.0c and Win98SE.
Anyone?

Regards,
Neil Porter

In File/Properties are video and audio options. See if you have in audio option mark box
for "start new project with this seetings".

I can see nothing there that could cause the problem.

Under Files/Properties are default templates. You apparently mard audio template as default template. Unmard the audio template.

Thanks for your replies. The default template is PAL DV and has been all along. Any suggestions, SOFO?

Where it shows the MP3 extension, isn't there an arrow next to it that allows you to show MOV, AVI and other extensions.

Try another way. When you press "render as" instate looking for template with avi or mpeg just type file name with .avi(movie.avi) and see if you can get your video templates back. I render one time audio file as wav64 and next time when I want to render a video it does give to me audio template. I just type filename with video extension(movie.avi) and got my video templates back. If that will not work you my have to reinstall Vegas. You could have corrupted file on hd. I do defrag every day or every second day to keep my files intact. I have 1 hd designated for OS and programs and second for video editing.

Yes, of course. It's there an that's naturally where I went to immediately. However, it showed *only* audio codecs. After a few reboots, trying a few things, and leaving it until next day I ended up here.

As it is, today they 'mysteriously' reappeared. Who knows why?

I hadn't thought to simply type it in and 'force' it to reappear. If it happens again, I will try this.

Thanks for all replies.
