Video Creating help

thebrain900 wrote on 7/11/2009, 7:53 PM
I have Movie Studio 8.0 C

And I have seen a lot of Documention on how to Create 3D Videos and I was thinking of trying it.

Now I do know it may not realy work but I was thinking of trying it anyway.

One thing I don't understand is this.

I know I take 2. Cameras Side by Side and have them at an Angel.
And you take the same Video with both Cameras and bring them into your Video edittor.

One Video is to have RED Overlays and the other video is to have BLUE Overlays.

Then you take One video and put it Right ontop of the other.

But when they say make ONE video have RED overys and One video ave BLUE Overlays what do they meen??

Do I make all the color in one video RED but if I do this then the whole RED video will be red and the same for the BLUE video.

And if I put one video ontop of the other you wont see the video Underneeth it.

Please help just to understand these two things
Thanks

I think I asked in the rong way.

What I ment to say is this.
If I take a video and Apply RED overlay does this meen the video will have a RED lens over it??

I ask because when I look at Documention on how to do things I may not know what some things are.

I tried a little experiment. I put the left video on track 1 and the right video on track 2. Drag the track level on track 1 down to 50% to let the second track show through the first. I added the color corrector effect to both tracks. In track 1 i set the Mid Angle to 90 and Mid Magnitude to .75. In track 2 i set the Mid Angle to 270 and the Mid Magnitude to .75. That seemed to work pretty well. I didn't actually check it with 3D glasses because i didn't actually have two separate camera angles to work with, but the result looked just like the 3D films i've seen.

Of course, this assumes that Vegas Studio has the Color Corrector effect. If you don't have it then try the Color Balance effect. Set one track to midtones red +0.25, green -0.25, blue -0.25. Set the other track to midtones red -0.25, green +0.25, blue +0.25.

Ok I need some help understanding what you told me to do.

First if I have one Video overlaping the other Video how did you say to make the first Video Transperant????

I know how you make one color Transperant but you want the Background Video to show through. So I will have to make the Whole Video ontop See Through RIGHT?????????????????????

And dont I have to ad just a RED Overlay to one Video and a BLUE Overlay to the OTHER Video?
Thanks again.

In the track header is a horizontal slider set to 100%. Move this over to 50% and it will make that track half-transparent.

The instructions i gave you for using the Color Corrector or the Color Balance effects *ARE* what adds the red & blue overlays.
thebrain900 wrote on 7/14/2009, 2:36 PM
OK I now understand how you make the Top Trak Transparant.

But when you say midtones red +0.25, green -0.25, blue -0.25. Set the other track to midtones red -0.25, green +0.25, blue +0.25.

This I don't get because I thought One Trak had to have a RED overlay and the other Trak a BLUE Overlay.

So why set the Red Green and Blue Percentagese???????????????????????

Anyone???
Chienworks wrote on 7/14/2009, 7:21 PM
Because "blue" is a somewhat imprecise term. What you actually need is for the two colors to be opposite of each other. If you only changed blue without changing green then the final color balance would be off. The opposite of red is cyan, which is blue and green combined. Most folks call cyan 'blue' without thinking about the difference. For example, the 'blue' bar with the word "Forums" at the top of this page is really closer to cyan, but if you ask anyone what color it is most of them would say 'blue'.

Thanks again for the help but I just want to ask about the Color.

midtones red +0.25, green -0.25, blue -0.25.
Will do what?

And midtones red -0.25, green +0.25, blue +0.25.
Will do what??

If both Video Tracks have the same Color settings then how can one have a RED Overlay and the other a Cyan Overlay???

Just try it and see what happens.

Notice the + and - signs? See how they differ?
thebrain900 wrote on 7/15/2009, 7:46 PM
OK thanks for all and I do meen all the help just one more thing and then I will go and try it out.

When you told me to set track 1 Mid Angle to 90 and Mid Magnitude to .75.

And In track 2 set the Mid Angle to 270 and the Mid Magnitude to .75. That seemed to work pretty well.

The Mid Angle is this when the video looks like it's Tilting tords you??
And I don't know how to set this where is the Tab?

And what is Mid Magnitude and where is the Tab for this?

Thanks

Are you looking in the Color Corrector effect? There's a box there that is labeled "angle" and you can type the 90 or 270 in there. This has nothing to do with tilting.
thebrain900 wrote on 7/15/2009, 9:06 PM
Well what I ment was I have the colo set and you told me
to set the Mid Angle to 270 of one of the videos.

I thought you ment to tilt the video?????????????
Chienworks wrote on 7/16/2009, 4:08 AM
This shows where the "angle" setting is in the Color Corrector effect:

thebrain900 wrote on 7/16/2009, 8:22 AM
I see now what you ment in the Color Corector there is a Wheel
And you set the Mid Angel

But what does the Mid Magnitude do?

Is the Mid Angel and Mid Magnitude just telling it were to go to in the Wheel for the Color??
Chienworks wrote on 7/16/2009, 8:26 AM
Experiment with it and see what happens. It's the best way to learn! :)
