Video delay when previewing on external monitor

Hi, fellas...

Every time I preview on external monitor, I find two problems:

1. Frame dropping
2. Video Delay (related to the audio tracks).

I have already tried to change the preview quality, but the problems pesist. I work with a Sony DSR11 DVCAM and a Pyro 1394 BasicDV firewire port.

What can be causing this!? Is there some specific setup I must do in the software to avoid the video delay and the frame dropping!?

Thanks,

Lawrence

P.S. As I´m trying to make an ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) the synchronism between video and audio on my external monitor must be very accurate.

There is a setup for delaying the audio to match the output.

For super-precise ADR, I'd use the internal Vegas preview window. Tear it off, size it up, change the video display rez if you need a larger size. You should always have 100% perfect sync using the internal preview regardless of hardware, which may not be the case using external preview (much depends on the hardware- soundcard, a/d converter etc).

I've also noticed that the sync is perfect at times and not-so-good at others. I think it has to do with whether I stop, back up, and go forward again. In general I find it good enough for demonstration purposes, but probably not precise enough for your exacting task.

I also see a blue screen on the monitor from time to time. I've assumed it's because the codec in my miniDV camcorder (the device that drives the monitor) has temporarily lost sync with the DV signal coming down the firewire. I don't see frame drops, however, unless Vegas is resampling the video.
