Turn off the "Split Screen Preview" - it's a button that's a circle that's half dark/half light just above the preview screen. You have it turned on and set to "Bypass Effects".

BTW, "Brightness and Contrast" probably isn't the effect you want anyway. Try adding a color corrector and playing with Gamma and the other tools there or add a Color Curves and play with that instead.

Thanks for your advice, unfortunately that doesn’t solve the problem.
When "Split Screen Preview" is off FX does not work.
Can you think of any thing else?
PS: I’m working with, Vegas 6.
Thank you.

Another possibility is that you're adjusting a keyframe AFTER the cursor location. My first guess will always be the "split screen" button, though.

No matter where I have a key frame FX is still not working
This is what I found; I apply an FX to a clip and then render that clip: the clip has been affected by the FX filter, not exactly how I wanted it but this way FX works.
Does that give you any ideas?
Thank you.

That's the EXACT symptom of having the "Split Screen" button turned on but set to "Bypass Effects". Just click the button I pointed out in the first post and all will be fine. Or change it to some other mode besides "Bypass Effects" (but then you'll be asking why it only applies it to half the screen).

So... turn OFF the "Split Screen" button.

It's working now!!! The"Bypass Effects" is what confused me.
Now that I got it working I started to play with "color Correction" instead of "Brightness ..." You are so right this is much better.
Thank you very much.
Eric.

Glad to hear you got it working. Also glad to hear you're experimenting with the other tools. They're much better for what it sounded like you were trying to do.
