It did it for me - wonder why that is - did they do a different license or something in moviemaker that they didn't do in Vegas? - Very strange - but hey, it sure did the trick - I've got no complaints - that's all it took for Vegas to be able to handle it - so what if I had to do an install/un-install - not much worse than haveing to add a new codec.
Well if I install Movie Studio, I can import the AC-3 audio tracks into Vegas. Unfortunately when I uninstall Movie Studio, I lose the ability to import AC-3 audio. Does anyone know how to keep the AC-3 import ability and uninstall the Movie Studio demo?
Well I deleted the Movie Studio directory and all references to the program and it still works. I think that's as good as it gets on my system. Anyway, I've wanted to be able to import AC-3 audio for years and now I finally can!
Mine won't let me capture all of a sudden - it says that it needs a serial for Vegas 6.0 Video capture
I'm just gonna re-install the real Vegas over and see if that fixes - but yea - I have wanted/ needed this ability for a few jobs - and this makes my life a lot eaiser - wish it were a sticky
I'd like to try this "trick" to get Vegas to handle AC3 files, but don't want to break video capture. Please let us know if reinstalling Vegas fixes that.

Just to be sure everyone's on the same page. I still can't load an AC-3 file directly. What is different now is that if I move a VOB or MPEG2 file with encoded AC-3 audio, both the video and the audio now show up on the timeline. This is incredibly useful.
