video fx

All of a sudden when I apply a video effects to objects in the time line nothing happens. The little fx icon turns green to show that a effect has been applied but it doesn't take effect in the clip. What could this be? Ex. I apply a cookie cutter and the FX icon turns green but the effect does not show in the preview window.

Look in your preview window, see if the small button that looks like a half-shaded circle is depressed. This bypasses all FX if you've got it in that mode.

Thanks! i feel real special that it was that simple. Are there any training courses for vegas. Were can i get some info on training courses.

There are the VASST training tours, which travel the US every year.
We have a training facility in Utah as well.
Additionally, there are training DVDs on Vegas from VASST and Class on Demand.
There are 4 books out on Sony Vegas in addition to the many DVDs.
Finally, the VASST website has well over a thousand training resources for Sony Vegas.

Outside of those references, you're in the forum that can help you a lot. The forums here, on DMN, on DVInfo.net, and on DVXUser.com are all outstanding communities.
