VIDEO FX AND TIMELINE ??

When I am viewing the timeline (with the video preview on the bottom half of the monitor); and I select the video event fx (to change the brightness or contrast)
the fx screen is the only thing I am to view. The preview screen is covered up.
I used to be able to make changes to the brightness and still see the video preview. Now I can only view the preview or the fx controls, but not both at the same time. What have I changed, to not be able to make changes and view them at the same time??,

Sounds like the FX window is docked over the preview window. Undock the FX window by clicking on the thin vertical line on the left edge of that window and dragging it away from the bottom of the screen.

Thats what it was.!!! Thanks !! I knew it was something I had done.. I just could not figure it out..
