Video Fx Application

Hey. Need some help here.
I'm trying to find out how I can apply a Video Fx to only a certain part of a clip without cutting it into a different clip. I know I can go in and add KeyFrames, but changing the levels on some effects to get them down to none at all is very tricky.

Here's exactly what i'm trying to do. I have a clip of someone moving or doing something, then, using a Velocity Envelope, it slows down to 0% and holds on that frame for a while. When it freezes on that frame, I want a Video Fx to come in, but I don't want the effect before or after the freeze frame.

Well, pretty much either splitting or using keyframes are your only choices. You'll have to do one or the other.

edit:

I did just think of one other method you could use: Add the effect to the entire clip and render the section you want to a new file. Remove the effect, then replace that section with the new file you just rendered.

Or the reverse:

-render all the clip without the effect (Uncompressed... it will be fast and no loss)
-bring this new rendered (AVI) track to T/L
-split the section where you want the effect applied
-move this new "effected" section on top of original clip

The trick is to have no effect on both tails of the new "effected" clip so it blends perfectly with the original rendered one.

Resetting the effect shouldn't to off shouldn't be too hard. If you double click on the sliders/controls, they all go back to default levels which usually is "off".

Which effects are you using, maybe we can give some better suggestions.
