Video is gone (green)

Ive been using vegas platinum 7 for a while and its fantastic. Ive done dozens of projects with no problems. This time is different. I bring AVI clips in. trim them on the timeline and arrange them. I save the project and when I close and reopen it, some of the clips are gone. The area is there but it is green, and when played the screen is green. But only on some videos. I havent moved the parent videos, all is the same, its just that about half of the videos are gone. They appear green on the timeline, and green during playback. This has never happened before, and I hope I havent just lost 10 hours of work. Please help.

Hi!

I notice that this is your first post - welcome aboard. Maybe what you need to know that Vegas Platinum has its own Forum, where maybe "other" issues where you will also need help with, you could find there too!

But, as you ARE here - hi - and I've just opened my version of Vegas Platinum and tested a VF file by relocating its Media to ANOTHER place. What I DO get is a Media Offline - same as Vegas Pro - but this is definitely not a green warning or some such thing. So, sorry I've drawn a blank, maybe others here could help.

Sorry - Grazie

vinceg,

I had this same problem but the audio was also messed up (this was on Vegas 6). What happened was my system was hit with a spike through the power line. The one drive I didn't have hooked into a surge protector suffered from it (as did my ethernet port). The external drive that contained the footage was corrupt. Everytime I restarted or closed Vegas and reponed, it would corrupt a little more. I could still use the drive but data corruption was a product of the spike. Once I lost everything and started over I reformatted the drive and only use it for things I could care less about.

Here is the original thread.
