What is the video format- VOB, mpg, avi, divx, etc? Does it play on a stand alone DVD player or just on your computer? What are the first sections of your video made of? What are the sections that won't load made of (file types)?

1. video formats are mostly vob, some mgg and avi.
2. yes it plays on a stand alone. I can get it to play on both the
computer and dvd player.
3. I don't know how to get the file types that are and are not loading?

I am unsure what mgg is, but Vegas does not open VOB files. Avi should have no problem. What you will want to do is either go back to the source and get the dv footage or get an avi file of it if it is available. If not, you can always extract the vob files to mpeg files. The only catch to doing this is that you have already compressed the files once by making them mpeg files which were made into VOB files, so to extract them using a third party application to edit them and then recompressing them again to put back on DVD will lose quality.

I am sure that you can search the forum for DVD to mpg (mpeg) or VOB to mpg or something similar and find some threads on this topic to help you find a program that will do it. www.tucows.com, cnet, and the like have software that is freeware, shareware, and the like. Be careful though as some include spyware or adware in the download file... read the user agreement before installing.
