video longer that audio upon import

I client wants to re-master the audio off a video DVD. This has many chapters or sections. which are continuous, no breaks between) I Imported via File> Import> DVD camcorder disc. The 'segment' video clips are all about 8 frames longer than the audio track. When butted together on the timeline naturally there is an audio drop out.
Can anyone offer an explanation? Thanks

Addendum:
I tried a completely different DVD and get the same results at the chapters transitions.
Is there a setting I don't have set right?<br>

Yep, Vegas does this with many regular DVDs (but not all).

-- Download the trial version of VideoReDo Plus (but not the beta just yet ;?)

-- Import the DVD and run Quickstream Fix.

-- If the DVD has AC-3 audio (and it probably does), rename the fixed file from .mpg to .vob

-- Import the new .vob into Vegas for editing.

-- (Hint: if you're just splitting, trimming, joining scenes, etc., do the whole works in VRD. Much quicker, and no recoding!)

Whole process goes really quickly in VRD, and this method has proven 100% reliable for me so far. (working on archiving ten years worth of performance DVDs).

Thanks MV !!
Do you think this is a Vegas 'bug' or just the result of the video DVD architecture?

The DVDs I worked on and others I tested were the usual 48k embedded audio.

A 'few' gaps are easy to fix on the timeline, but this particular client puts chapters, sub-chapters.. or whatever they do, every 2:09 min/sec.. So the imported media has a HUGE number of gaps when put on the timeline.

I don't think it's really a bug, but the ripper in Vegas is rather rudimentary, since it was designed for importing camcorder discs, rather than program DVDs.

OTOH, VideoReDo was designed for the task, and re-indexes all the GOPs without re-encoding the video, which is a huge advantage in addition to not having the sync issue.

Has anyone found a solution to this? It *is* a BUG!

What I found is that larger VOBs will be broken up into smaller MPGs of 180MB each. It's at that point that the l few milliseconds of the audio is missing. Smaller VOBs are ok. This is a real pain when remastering a DVD.
