video playback short cloggings in every video file

please help

Vegas 4.0 evaluation copy, XP

I have a short clog in about every 15-20 frames, when I try to playback any video file in the timeline or in the media pool. Its occur with uncompressed avi so its not a driver issue. Its occur also when I have only video channel, so its not an audio buffer thing. When I render something, then its working well in WMplayer player, so probably its a problem of sonic playback capabilities...

any idea??

thanx

Uncompressed AVI? Are these files full frame (640x480 or so), 30fps 24 bit files? How fast is your computer? My 2.0GHz P4 has a hard time playing full size uncompressed AVI files. There's just too much data to be processed. Once you've rendered it to something else it's probably a much smaller file which your computer can handle a lot easier.

you misunderstood me,

I have this problem with any kind of avi, even indeo, DV, uncompressed, quicktime or other movie by any codec, which are played back smoothly by any other software (media player, premiere) on my computer. Anyway I have an 1.8Mh P4 mobility, ati radeon 9000 64MB, but its OK, because other software are able to play back the video files without any issue...so probably vegas has some problem with it

It's interaction problem between Vegas & Win XP on some hardware configuration.
If you'll can solve it, please post this forum.
