Video preview on external monitor is incorrect.

andrey-k wrote on 11/19/2024, 2:13 PM

I have two monitors. The first monitor has a 4K resolution, and the second monitor has a Full HD resolution. I recently purchased version 21 of Vegas Pro, and when I turn on the video preview function on an external monitor, the video doesn't fit on the second monitor. The video preview on the second monitor is somehow in 4K resolution instead of Full HD. After all, my second monitor has a Full HD resolution. I've tried everything, but I still can't get the video to fit properly on my second monitor. It never fits.
I've attached a screenshot for reference.

In version 16 of Vegas, everything works well and correctly. The image fits and adjusts properly on the second monitor screen.

Did you try to check alternate high DPI in preferences/ display?

@andrey-k What happens when you set the Preview Quality to Best Half? (Which is the pixel dimensions of your 1080P monitor when working on a 2160p project.)

Also look at these switches.

Also look at these switches.

All parameters are included as they should be. The second screen does not respond to any switches. Everything remains the same, only the image quality changes. Thank you.It feels like the scaling function is not being executed For the second monitor. Below, to make it clear, I will attach each screenshot separately with a comment.

By the way, I have version 21 of Vegas, the Steam version.

I don't understand what you are talking about. In version 16 of Vegas, everything works fine, but in version 21, for some reason, it doesn't.

Try the display tab in preferences, there are more options there.

When trying to change the scaling on the second screen (Setting the scaling to 150%), which has a Full HD resolution, In version 21 of Vegas, everything works as it should. On the second monitor, the picture is full screen. But in this case, now in version 16 of Vegas, only half of the image is displayed on the second monitor. For my second monitor with Full HD resolution, a scaling of 100% is recommended. 150% is too much for it. In this case, with 150% scaling, the text is very large and the icons are also very large, which is very inconvenient. Yes, I also need Vegas 16. I create some effects in Vegas 16 and some in Vegas 21. Yes, and working on the second monitor at 150% scaling, when your icons and text are giant size, is very inconvenient.

Vegas 21

Vegad 16

100% scaling

150% scaling

The whole problem is that Vegas in version 21 mistakenly interprets Windows scaling.

I don't know how to inform the company Vegas that they have an a scaling issue with the second external monitor in Vegas version 21. Yeah, it's an unpleasant situation. I bought this program for more than 100 USD, and I can't get it to work properly.

andrey-k wrote on 12/17/2024, 5:32 PM

So, it turns out I need to buy a second monitor so that it also has a 4K resolution.

When trying to set the scaling to 100% on a 4K monitor, The image is not stretched, but it is shifted slightly to the right from the second monitor.

It's good that I didn't buy version 22 and didn't spend your entire annual earnings. I am generally disappointed. I still decided to purchase licensed software and I ended up in such a mess..

I have VEGAS Pro 15-22 and with one HD monitor and one 1440p one they display properly if I use high DPI and alternative high DPI to handle the mismatched resolutions.

With high DPI scaling I have issues with my high DPI laptop display plus a non-high DPI external monitor so here I turn off high DPI scaling in the newer versions of VEGAS. Downside is it looks somewhat softer but that's acceptable to me.

I edit on a 4K monitor but will preview on a 1080 monitor. Everything displays properly.

As shown in @RogerS screenshot, you must have High DPI check marked.

Thank you for your screenshot. The last two functions were not activated in my settings. I activated them, and everything worked for me. Thank you very much!

@andrey-k glad that all is well. What did you do to succeed?
