video preview on external monitor - not shwing

Eitan-Rieger wrote on 2/22/2023, 5:59 AM

Im using a 4K monitor for editing.

I just added a 2nd old 1600x1200 monitor which I wanted to use for video preview. (it is set as 2nd monitor on windows)

When Im setting it as preview monitor on Vegas - it stays black. And no video is being shown. If I disable "scale output" I only see a part of the video.

notes:

1. when identifying the monitors on Vegas, the "1" appears only on the main monitor. (although windows monitor identification shows 1 and 2.)

2. When setting the old monitor as the main one, I CAN see the preview video on my 4K monitor (which is the 2nd one). However, I want to use the 4K monitor for the software itself.

Why is Vegas behaving like that? Any way to solve it?

Kind regards

Aspect Ratio of that monitor is 4:3 Using that monitor for a 16:9 preview will use max only 1600x900 pixels. I wouldn't use such a monitor for external previewing. Use at least a 16:9 monitor with 1920x1080 pixels.

I'm using two identical 16:10 1920x1200 monitors for 4k editing and external preview, and that works really perfect (at least for me):

Ok...please try this...
Go to the Preferences (Options/Preferences), select the "Display" tab. Check the option "Use Alternate High DPI settings". Restart Vegas.
