Video Preview screen starts on the wrong screen

ingeborgdot wrote on 9/22/2014, 4:14 PM
I have been using 3 screens for a long time and have no problem. I think I just have gone brain dead or something because I can't seem to find the fix for this problem. I just put in an new R9 280 and have 3 screens set up. I open up SVP 12 and now the video preview screen I have setup is on the same page as my timeline where in the past it was on screen 2. What setting do I need to change to make it work? I just can't seem to remember. Thanks.

Not sure which one you mean. If its the Video Preview window, simply drag it to whatever screen you like, then resize. If you mean external Preview Device, you can select which screen in Preferences, the Preview Device tab.

It is the Video preview window and I drag it over and resize. No problem, right? Well, every time I restart SVP I have to move the window over to the other screen. It never did that before.

I know this is hijacking your thread, but how is that R9 280 treating you?

When you change your graphic card there is a good chance windows reassigns different indentifiers to your monitors. You just have to rearrange your windows layout and save it or plug the monitors in differently.

Once you have the windows layout the way you want, try saving that layout and then restart.

I tried that. I save the layout, I save the video, I even open up the same work and it still opens up the work space and then the video preview pages just drops on top of it. I drag it over and hit my preferred view and it is fine but I never had to do that before and it is a pain in the butt.

I have my screens setup as 1 - 2 - 3. Screen 1 & 2 are my main ones. I open up SVP and used my left (1) screen as my work area. My right (2) screen is my video preview. Now, when I open up the preview pops up first and my work screen fills in behind on screen 1. What am I doing wrong. I have had it work for years but now with a new 280, it's killing me with multiple screens. I don't know what to do.

How are the screens setup under windows? As I mentioned earlier, a new card means new monitor number assignment.

Right now, they are 2-3-1. 2 being my work screen, 3 being my preview and 1 is the projector I show projects on.
I have tried 1,2,3 etc. but no matter what I do it just won't stay where I set it. Give me an answer of what to do oh wise one. :)

Ok, so how does it look like under Windows when look at the multiscreen setup menu? You know you can drag the monitors you see there around?

This is where you set the monitors in Windows

And this is where you set your external monitor

As long as your monitor setup is correct in Windows and your external monitor points to the right monitor you should be good to go.

One more thing. How many Vegas versions do you have on your system? Your Vegas Windows Layout could be pointing to the wrong directory.

Holding Ctrl + Shift while starting Vegas will reset all preferences and delete cached data prior to loading the program.

If you have recently installed new hardware (especially a new graphics card), this is necessary because Vegas may be loading settings for your old hardware.

I have tried that and thought I had it but after I open it again it changes back. I got my screens to be in order of 1-2 at this point and left off three to see if that would help but it has not. In my windows res page it is listed as 1-2 but when I go into preview device in Vegas and hit identify it is listed as the opposite 2-1. I am getting a little frustrated.
ingeborgdot wrote on 9/24/2014, 2:00 PM
Sometimes the stupid people just don't win. I have spent several hours trying to get this to work properly and all the problem was I had the preview screen a little bit (maybe 1/16 of an inch) onto the other screen so it would just go into that screen. I went and left a tiny little space between the preview and the screen it was on and now it works properly. How stupid.
skosh wrote on 9/24/2014, 6:15 PM
It sounds like preview window was not full screen and a floating window. Just make sure the preview is full screen and problem solved or if you need/want the preview close to a border windowed make sure you can see the entire window on that monitor.
ingeborgdot wrote on 10/8/2014, 8:31 PM
Yeah, so I thought that this is the problem. I installed another new one on another computer and the same thing is happening to this. It keeps following where the main screen page. It never wants to start on the opposite screen. I have tried everything again. I will wait and see what happens I guess.
ingeborgdot wrote on 10/9/2014, 11:42 AM
Well, I guess the main culprit is CCC. I uninstalled it and it now works just great.
ddm wrote on 10/9/2014, 12:22 PM
For the record... what is CCC? Thanks.
