Video Preview Window has a Shaded Grey Hue over video preview

Ben-Lewis wrote on 12/21/2024, 12:19 AM

I'm rendering my finished video, and the preview window has a grey hue over the entire video. When I render the video, the grey hue transfers to the finished rendered video file. This is the first video I have rendered in Vegas Pro 22. Can anyone tell me how to reverse the grey hue over the video preview window? Thank you.

Please share a screenshot of the problem. Yes the rendered file should match the preview window so if the preview looks wrong you need to fix that.

Are you using the 8-bit full project mode? (alt + enter)

Could be a wrong setting between legal range and full range?

Here is a screenshot of the way my project currently looks in the video preview window. I can't seem to reverse this dull grey look that the preview window is currently showing. Maybe there is some type of effect assigned to the preview, I'm not sure, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

What Fx are you using next to the preview window? (See left of best/full)

Ben-Lewis wrote on 12/21/2024, 11:56 PM

To answer your question RogerS, yes, I checked, and it's set to 8-bit full project mode.

I clicked the FX button and here is what is being shown on "All" under the explorer menu.

These ALL are audio fx not video fx. Is this a legal Vegas version you're using?

You clicked on wrong 'fx' click the one with blue dot and remove plugin if it's causing the problem

I looked over the FX button you described in your comment and here is what it's showing. I'm not seeing any effects applied in this image. How would I go about removing a plug in, and can you see if any plugin is active on this image? Thanks!

@Ben-Lewis can you also show a screenshot of your project settings? Also media info of the footage you're using.

3POINT, Do you know where I can find the project settings? What about media information of the footage I'm using? Thanks!

RogerS wrote on 1/4/2025, 12:26 AM

Settings look fine.

You are sure there's no Fx at the track level either?

Does the footage look this way in a new empty project?

Raise that fader to 100%.

Ben-Lewis wrote on 1/4/2025, 11:20 PM

RogerS - I looked at the track level and there are no video FX that I can see. The raw video footage previews correctly at full color when I drag a new clip into the timeline. Adis-a - I did raise the fader. Thank you for any input here.

Maybe just share the .veg file and we can figure it out.

Otherwise start a new project that doesn't have whatever this problem is?

Did it not make any difference when you raised it to 100%? Is there a reason for it being on 25%?
