Video preview window problem

RonR wrote on 3/5/2005, 3:11 PM
I was editing quite normally with the Preview Window undocked. I dragged it to another part of the screen to uncover the Transport Buttons and it disappeared. No matter what I try it will not come back. It was selected in the View drop down menu, so I deselected and reselected; that didn't bring it back. I have closed Vegas 5 and reopened it; it still didn't come back. I have shut down the computer and restarted it; still no Preview Window. I have opened old projects; same result. I am using a single monitor setup and touched no setup buttons. All the other docking windows are working normally and I have dragged all the windows every which way to make sure it is not hidden under any of them. It must be something qute simple, but it has me baffled at the moment. Can anybody help me?

TIA

Try holding down CTRL + SHIFT and then open Vegas.

Jeff,

Thanks. That did work. For future reference, can you tell me exactly what happened there and how your fix worked.

CTRL-SHIFT simply resets all the settings in Vegas back to their "factory defaults". This fixed your problem but does not completely explaiun where your preview window "went" before.

ALT+4 didn't restore the Preview Window to your desktop?

I did not know that ALT+4 should restore the Preview Window to my desktop, so I didn't try that. Next time it goes AWOL I will try that.
