Video Preview Window Zoom?

Hi everyone. I'm finding it very difficult to create precise planar tracked tracks when selecting an area in the Video Preview window because the maximum size of the Video Preview window is too small even when maxed out, to track very small objects as they change size (get smaller) but still need to be tracked accurately.

I seem to recall complaints about the ability to zoom into the Video Preview window as a missing feature in Vegas Pro 19. I also seem to recall someone figured out a cumbersome way to use the Pan and Crop tool to more accurately create the tracking points in the Video Preview window.

I don't know if my memory is correct.

  1. Is there a Video Preview zoom capability I'm missing in Vegas Pro 19?
  2. If not, is there some work-around to be able to see a more zoomed in area of the Video Preview window to be able to accurately select the motion tracking region?

Thanks!

Thank you lan-mLMC, but I'm already doing that and it's not nearly large enough for fine selections of objects.

Yes, that's the features I'm looking for, however I have seen other video editors have zoom levels of 1000% for example, not just the 100% you show in this video. Also just zooming isn't enough. All the selection tools, especially effects like Picture in Picture and Mesh, need to be fully active when you are zoomed in so you can make better selections.

Sadly, without this capability, the picture in picture, motion tracking, planar motion tracking, mesh, and Bézier mask tools have very limited use IMO.

The zoom-problem was discussed her:

Look at the procedure I suggested.

@stevefoobar2 - Are you using QT Media? Have you got QT installed?

As you know from another post about this project, I'm not using QT video and I don't have QT installed. It's AVC video in a QT wrapper I believe.

Thanks, however I'm already doing this when I just want to "view" at a zoomed level but this doesn't help me because I can't add tracking key frames with effects like Picture in Picture within the Pan & Zoom window. You can only do that within the Video Preview Window. It appears after reading other threads that Vegas just needs to have functional zoom added to the Video Preview window as a future enhancement.
