video previews still poor

Just purchased VMS and when importing movies into a project I get very poor previews. The audio/video is out of sync. Video is choppy.
Shooting DSLR, (Canon T2i) at 1280x720 (60p). importing the files in .mov format. Tried a few different project settings but nothing seems to change.
Several months ago, when using trial VMS I was having probs and discovered "CIneform Neoscene" (trial), and it seems like that helped but I wondered if running movies through neoscene degraded the files.
Bottom line- I'm a bit confused on the best protocol for importing files from my T2i into VMS. If the gurus recommend purchasing the neoscene software I will consider it unless there are less$$ adjustments that can be made otherwise. What say ye gurus?
Any references on understanding pros/cons of different file formats and codecs would be very much appreciated.
Thank You
P.S. if it makes any difference, video playbacks are perfect in the camera editing software, (ZoomBrowserEX)

Vegas Platinum 10 has major fixes for the Canon dSLRs specifically, and Vegas Pro 10 even more than Platinum 10. So if you're using Platinum 8 or 9, simply install the trial of Platinum 10 to try it. If it works better, then upgrade to it. It's not too expensive to upgrade to Platinum 10.

If you're already running Platinum 10 and it's still slow, then either your project properties are not set properly, or you are not running in preview/auto or draft/auto mode (the preview modes suggested for editing), OR your PC is indeed very old. It's one of the three.

Now, if it's none of the three, and you already run Platinum 10, then yes, you must continue using Cineform NeoSCENE. The "gurus suggest it" because it's an intermediate codec, therefore you don't lose quality. Intermediate codecs are visually lossless. That's their main job.

Please fill up your system specs here btw: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowProfile.asp?UserID=56956&MessageID=739354 and always mention which version of Vegas you run, so we don't have to guess our answers to you.

Thanks Eugenia,
I did upgrade my system on my profile, as you suggested, and I am currently using VMS 10 platinum with xp pro64. I am set to- preview auto.
Based on that I guess I need to Run Cineform per your advice.
Thanks Again
