Video render fades doesnt match the preview window/image

Hi all, i apologise if this issue is well known, but trying to google search any Vegas pro issue with the words "black" and fade" in it just leads me nowhere!

The issue i have occurs in the rendered out video. I have a project with nothing on it but this one png image. I have also tried it with a .jpg file type etc, and nothing seems to be working. The image, as it looks in the preview window, looks like this:

However, when rendered out, it looks like this:

The damage seems to happen as the image flows top to bottom, with the grey background decal fading to black, and i have no idea why. No effects, nothing. I am using VP 13.0, with up to date nVidia 1060 drivers, and been through every property setting on the timeline as well as preview window.

Anyone any ideas of why this specific background (which is part of the one image) fades to black from top to bottom?

Could you post a screenshot of your timeline including the image?

Sure thing:

This is the image file directly from Photoshop

Seems like a levels issue?

You're clipping the grey background. Add a Levels / Computer to Studio filter to the track with the graphic. The background of your graphic just happens to be 16,16,16.

This is what I got when I rendered:

The Studio RGB levels will be expanded in most players and look correct to the viewer.

Oh wow guys thank you!

I have also been running different output rendering formats, and all of Sony's output formats produce the same results, however, rendering it as a WMV file seems to retain the visuals. I cant quite tell if the quality is sliiiightly lower, since its late and my eyes are already groggy trying to figure this out lol

I'd also suggest using the Level FX instead to correct the output. The issue is based in the player's behaviour. If you re-import your rendered video into Vegas Pro you will likely see the rendered video actually looks like the original grafic.

Fantastic work sir! I couldnt stop laughing at the RBG of the PS work, and that the levels were at default.

You are a legend John thank you!! Saved me a lot more sleepless nights!
