Video rendering quality?

My videos are mostly made of stills (3 Mpix) and videoclips (640x384 30 Fps MJpeg).
The project properties are set to 1360x768.
I do "cook" the input material through filters (colour curves) and the Neat Video plug-in.

I render to 1360x768 25 Fps WMV for showing on a new 50" plasma with native res. 1360x768 through a Mac Mini (the new one running Win XP) connected to the TV via a DVI-cable.
Viewing program is Power DVD as it seems to give slightly better pics than the Windows media player.

This setup works pretty well - nice sharp pictures with natural colours - but one is, of course, always looking for some improvement - if possible.

I have been experimenting with 2 parameters for rendering:
1 -Video rendering quality - it seems that there is no difference between GOOD and BEST? - can this be true - or should I clean my spectacles?
2 - Encoding to wmv I use mode=Quality VBR and Quality=90 as a quality over 90 slows rendering heavily and also seems to give no real improvement?

Question: Do any of you experts see any ways for improvement in my setup?? changing the parameters - rendering to some other format etc??
