Video Resolution Question

I'm working on a project that I shot with my Canon HV-40. I'm trying to render it at 1280 x 720 in VMS9. When I do this, I get a little sliver of black at the top and bottom of the video. If I change the aspect ratio to (lower resolution) 720 x 480 the slivers are gone. I would prefer to render at 1280 x 720. Is there a way to get rid of the slivers?

What project settings are you using for your Vegas video project, Dave? You should be using the HDV project settings.

When you say you're trying to render it as 1280x720, do you mean you're trying to output a 1280x720 video from your hi-def video project? What format are you outputting?

This is due to slight SAR differences between the formats.
Check "Stretch to fill output" when you render and make sure you are rendering at Best.
All will be well.

I shot the video in DV mode, but used the HDV setting in the VMSP9 Project Properties dialog.

I'm rendering it to WMV9 format for posting on YouTube.

I tried both of these suggestions, but they do not solve the problem.

Perhaps it all boils down to that I should have shot in HDV mode instead of DV mode?

Well, whatever you shoot in, your project should match.

If you're shooting in DV, your project should be set up for standard DV.

If you're shooting in HDV, your project should be set up for HDV.
