video showing on timeline not audio

Being very much beginner I ran into a issue with V8 that even the Tech guys had the same problem when they requested I send clips. Turned out they had the same problem when they brought the clips to their V8, some had audio some didn't. It took them about a week to sort out a solution. This was the answer

Our team has a solution for you. I tested it and it works on my system.

1) In Windows, rename all files with a .vob file extension. If the file says MU0001.mpg, change it to MU0001.vob
2) In Vegas, go to File > Import > Media. Change the Files of type to say All Files (*.*)
3) Double-click the file. This will open it in Project Media.
4) Drag to the timeline.

I don't have any problems with any clips coming into Vegas 7 so I am doing most of my editing back on Vegas 7. The above does not always work, oh well.

Just putting it out there in case someone else has a problem. They can try the solution that was suggested. If it's a issue with V8, hope it gets solved.

What kind of footage are you editing? Is this from a camera or another source?

the clips are mpeg from Sony SR100, imported from computer. I always download to my computer, then import to Vegas. The clips where all taken at the same time. As it turned out, Marc from Sony Tech when I called had the same camera so he was familiar. Marc ran into the same problem when I sent him two clips, one that worked with audio and one that did not. The above solution was what the tech group came up with. However there is no problem with Vegas 7 it is only an 8 issue. More than you wanted to know.
