Video snapshot resolution problem

Howdy Folks,

I am using Vegas Movie Studio 8.0b trial version. I am able to create a still frame from the software. Is use the "Save Snapshot" with the "Best(Full)" option. However, my video is 640x480 and the still that gets created is 582x480. I've tried tweaking a number of options, but I cannot get a 640x480 image. Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas? Many thanks.

It works perfectly for me. FIRST you must tell to the project settings that this is 640x480 with 1.0000 square pixels aspect ratio and THEN pull your VGA picture to the timeline. And then, do a "save snapshot" and it will be a real VGA resolution.

I have seen the situation you are describing if you have pulled the picture to the timeline with wrong project settings that were adjusted after the fact.

Hola Eugenia,

That was the issue. I needed to tell it to use square pixels. Many thanks.

I'm new to this .. I can see that the attributes of my still image ( from snap shot) are reported in the properties as 327x240x24, 00:00:00.00. also I have 1000 square pixels

I can also see in the project properties that I my aspect ratio is 720x480.

To get the best out of my still image I read the above to mean that I need to change it's attributes to 720x480 as well ??

If so - where do I go to do that - I can't see it.

thanks Vincej

Set the preview to Best / Full. You'll then get a snapshot at 655x480 with a PAR of 1.000, which is the same as a 720x480 video frame at 0.9091.
