Video tracks &project file vanished while working on a VPro21 project

Really, the .veg and the backup files disappeared entirely? Very alarming. Do have advanced save enabled if you haven't.

What do you mean by „the project file disappeared?“ Was it deleted from the ssd/harddisc?

That’s encouraging to hear, set. Yes, in the project I referred to, the video files in my timeline disappeared after about 20 minutes of editing. And when I went to re-open the veg file, it had disappeared from my hard drive. In fact, the whole project folder disappeared. As I said originally, I’m hoping this was just some kind of weird coincidence that happened right at the first time I used VP21…. But it does have me spooked.

i finished my project using VP20, and will soon try a new project in VP21, backing everything up manually every few minutes as I go…

How can a file disappear from the hard drive? Have never heard that before.

Ok, this is the very weird case I ever heard, but do you still have the backup original media in the other hard drive? Hopefully yes.

I had never heard of such a thing happening before, either (and I hope never to again...).

Fortunately, I still had my raw, unedited files. They just disappeared from the VPro timeline, and the VPro project file disappeared from my hard drive. I have no idea what to "blame it on", I'm just worried that it happened during the very first project I started in VPro21. It's not happened in any other "environment", such as photo-editing, manuscript-creation, etc. I feel somewhat encouraged by the fact that nobody else seems to have had this experience in VPro21.

(btw I've been a Vegas user for lots and lots of years... since the days when it was an audio-only work environment, before Sony acquired it and expanded it into a full-on video-editing toolset.)

Do Save and Save-as in later time, having multiple project files more than one. Hope this can help.

The only idea I have how this could happen is that a virus checker sent the folder into quarantine erroneously. I cannot imagine that VP21 is removing a complete folder while it is working on it.

This situation just goes to prove the wisdom of having backups of all media right from the outset as well as .veg files even if Advanced Save is active - just in case the HDD/SSD fails or is zapped by a power surge.
