video under AUDio time e x p a n d

I want to buy vegas for a certain application. I need to
drastically expand time with constant pitch, and keep slo-
mo video in sync.

Does Vegas Video (or even Vegas Audio) have constant pitch
time expand? If so, is it easy to do or does it take a
million mouse clicks?

What is the maximum ratio of time expansion?

Second, with either Vegas (vid/aud)can I have a video
preview window open and at the same time see and an audio
waveform with a trace bar to show location?

Better still, does either Vegas product offer an FFT view?

Wow! I ask a lot of questions! Any Vegas pros know the
answers?

Vegas Video does allow stretching of both the video and audio. With
audio you can:

Change length, preserve pitch
Change pitch, preserve length
Change length & pitch

Maximum stretch for video and audio is 400%, and there are a number
of functions that allow you to "clean-up" the signal during this
process.

If you do mix-to-news you could theoretically make any video and/or
audio file ANY length, but obviously the quality would fall apart at
some point- it's up to the producer to decide how far you'd want go.

Thanks.

I presume if I lengthen time, and preserve pitch on an audio tranck,
I can get lock a vidoe track to stretch (to slow-motoion) and stay in
sync? Yes?

If you stretch both the video and audio events to a snap point
(marker, region i/o mark) you'll be able to keep both in synch. You
can't stretch more than one event at a time but as long as the new
lengths match, so will synch.
