Video vert. sync randomly breaks in Vegas Pro 19 preview display

Please tell me how to fix this vertical sync problem.

NOTE: (Aug 2, 2022) To make things clearer and more current, I've started a new thread on this problem at at: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-19-preview-display-and-thumbnails-broken--136562/

<<Preview display

This happens in all versions of Vegas Pro 19, as far as I can tell. As you can see, this kind of sync loss happens a few moments after I open a Vegas Pro 17 Project in Vegas Pro 19. It is random, but always happens sooner or later after starting Vegas Pro 19 on the VP 17 Project.

I've worked for hours trying to find a work around and have failed to find any setting that affects the problem in any way.

Here is how my track display should look before sync breaks after I restart Vegas Pro 19:

Here is the way my track display looks after sync breaks:

The actual files looks ok outside of Vegas Pro. If I step through the track one frame at a time, The preview window toggles back and forth just as the track preview snapshots serially toggle back and forth between having green and no green..

Please tell me how to fix this.

I have a recent Windows 10 with the AMD RYZEN 7 4800H 7nm technology CPU and a decent laptop graphics card. (GTX 1660 Ti)

Windows Updates, display drivers, firmware updates are all current. I noticed this problem when I first got Windows Pro 19, several months ago. I have updated all aspects of my system regularly from that point in time until now.... I have done a fresh install of Vegas Pro with disk recoveries in between, and the problem has remained through all of that. I have reset Vega Pro to defaults as well as extensive playing with settings.... no joy ever.

That isn't a loss of Vsync, that just causes screen tearing, not green discoloration. We need more info about your system. "A good graphics card" is subjective, you could be talking about a GTX 670 for all we know. We also need which version and build of VEGAS you are using, the mediainfo report for the media files that are causing the problem, and specifically which GPU driver version number you are using (you can find this by using the driver update utility in the VEGAS help menu)

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

It's a problem with decoding, likely of variable framerate media- please provide the details Frosty recommends.

Here's how to post MediaInfo: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

(Update 8/1/2022 I have discovered that this is NOT the solution.)

This is a real head slapper. I found the problem thanks to your good suggestions.

Dumb me! I simply changed the refresh rate from 144 HZ to 60 HZ. Problem solved.

That will teach me to look outside the box.

BTW Yelandkeil, No need to sneeze at the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H laptop CPU.

Passmark benchmarks >> CPU Mark: 18,985, TDP (W): 45

Any laptop that has it or its newer cousins is bound to be a fast and economical machine.

Do update Radeon Graphics drivers if they are old as some are known to have decoding issues. You can do that in Vegas with help/driver update.

My joke comes to the ground: your source material on which your NLE edits or your laptop drives.
You mentioned every thing but not the essence. Good you found the issue.

Please don't be upset by a weekend joke. 🍻🍻

I have come back to this problem several times with no progress. I followed several different dimensions to exhaustion. (e.g. resample, vsync, adaptive fps, decoding, display quality, firmware updates, cookies, etc. Nothing seemed to make things better....

However, the problem seemed to be specific to version of Vegas Pro 19, computer software was installed on, graphics card, etc. Only display of video and graphics is affected.

Finally I uninstalled Deep Learning Models.. I have not had the problem since.

I've only used it for about 5 minutes without seeing the problem happening again. Usually it happens with then the first minute of playback. I have run it for about 5 minutes with nothing going wrong so far. I am crossing my fingers in the hope that it will not happen again.

Stay tuned!
