VideoCD (NTSC) with still pictures (jpg)

If anybody has tried or is familiar with creating a VCD (NTSC format) with still pictures I need some assistance. Whenever I create the movie it renders the whole project, which is currently all jpg pictures - then when viewing the output is kind of blurring and it seems to be in a "movie" format. I have tried other products and never get this type of unclear pictures in my "slideshows".

If I am using only pictures in my slideshow, what is the best thing to do in order to have the pictures in the slideshow be "still" and not have the pixels on the T.V. jump/move around. I am using MPEG1 for the rendering process. If I choose not to render the entire project, then I get a blank (black) screen with only my music.

This has been extremely frustrating because I need to create this for my wedding that I am planning to deliver to people in SouthEast Asia in the VCD format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you're expecting too much from the VCD format. You didn't say what quality your original pictures were. If taken with a digital camera then for sure they will go down in quality no matter what product you use. Even though you are making a picture slide show you are still rendering as a movie, which you have to do if you plan on putting them on a CD. Making VCD's results in lower quality because of limitations of the bitrare supported by MPEG-1. Results would be better with MPEG-2.

I use Nero. This lets you drag the JPG stills directly into the burner software. It then adjusts the resolution and aspect ratio to make the picture look good. The results are stunning. If your DVD player can handle SVCD, then have Nero do the slide show in SVCD format.
