No one really knows when a new version is coming out. Even though Video Factory is a few years old now, it remains competative with other budget NLE's.

As far as the second part of you question, this link will answer all:

The only "error" I noticed on that page is that Ogg Vorbis support isn't mentioned (maybe because the plugin doesn't use Ogg Vorbis 1.0?).

I've gone from VF to V3 to V4 to V4b. The SF policies regarding upgrades have always been very fair. For example, I puchased an upgrade to V3 literally within days of their introduction of V4. SF issued all who purchased V3 up to 30 days prior to the intro a FREE upgrade to V4.

Go ahead, get VF. It's great fun and SF takes care of their customer base!

I second what Grob said. SF has been very fair with their upgrade policies. I would buy VF2 now and not worry about it. They will take care of you when version 3 comes along.
