Videography Question For Spot...

...or anybody else who might have the answer. I videotape amateur hockey
with my Sony PD250 and I was wondering if there is a filter that I might need
to make the bright white ice surface a little more dark? I would prefer to do this during aquisition as opposed to post in Vegas. Thanks you in advance,

Alex

I'd set the zebra at "80", shoot manual iris and open up until the whites just start to zebra...then leave exposure alone. This will ensure that you'll maintain detail in the whites, and you can always brighten the shots up a bit in post if needed.

If you overexpose to begin with and blow out the whites, there's really no way you can bring back that lost detail.

One of thereally cool features about the PD series, is you can underexpose to a fairly wide degree without incurring graniness.

EPM - would you also suggest whitebalance too? - Just a thought. -G
