Videoscopes (Waveform/Vectroscope)

Can someone clarify the proper videoscop setting to use. I'm from the analog world and understand the 7.5ire settings but what is the proper setting to use in order to edit a project that will be transfered to betacam-SP that will give me proper NTSC levels? This has always been a guessing game to me? Help would be appreciated?

Cheers!

According to the Vegas help, you only need to set the 7.5 IRE setting if your monitor adds the 7.5 IRE setup. From the Vegas online help:

If your video hardware will add a 7.5 IRE setup, you can configure the Video Scopes window so the display will be consistent with an external scope connected to a device that adds 7.5 IRE setup.

Here's some recent discussions about monitoring that may help.

Busterkeaton,

Notice that help does not say MONITOR, but it says Video Hardware. This video hardware is in reference to TBCs or Video Tape Decks, or video conversion devices, not monitors.
