What you have is 'expanded view'. It is such an annoying feature particularly since it is relatively easy to activate by inadvertently double-clicking on the side edge of a video clip. More info is on an earlier post:

i cannot for the life of me think why scs felt it necessary to add this type of tl display so late in the day, and in so doing made it so easy to accidentally turn it on.
