Viewing and recording out to Video Tape

Ok Peoples.. heres one for ya!

Heres my problem. I try to view on my external monitor via my firewire both from the timeline and from print to tape tab via the capture work space. I get nothing at all. So at this point I can not print to tape. I am able to capture from my tape tech, and have full controll over the tech. Vegas does see my tape tech., but when it comes to viewing on my monitor, nothing.

Rendering for dvd is no problem. I even rendered for print to tape (avi) and that was no problem.

Check the menu setting on your camcorder. On Sony camcorders this must be switched between "IN" and "OUT" depending on which way the video/audio are travelling. Probably the same for other brands as well.

I don't use a camcorder. I have a JVC mini deck w/ svhs, model number sr-vs20 with firewire. And it did wok with my avid I had. I am able to capture from the deck and have full controll of the deck..... I did talk to sony tech support and the only thing they came up with is.... check the input for the firewire...

You are going out from the camera to the deck to record from firewire, then from the deck analog out (S or composite) to supply the monitor correct?
