I received a hard drive from a cameraman with quicktime files, footage shot in DVC Pro. I was unable to view the footage in Vegas or in the latest Quicktime player on my PC. They used DVH3 codec, apparently not available for the PC.

After a bit of querying I found my way to Calibrated Software, who sells an application "Calibrated{Q} DVCProHD Decode for Windows," designed exactly for viewing DVCPro QT files in Windows. Once installed, I could open the QT files directly into Vegas from within Vegas, just like any other media file.
