I'm not sure if you can preview video on external monitor for a different comp. screen, i suppose it's worth a shot, then you can make the preview window really small and fit whatever else you want in there. Just a suggestion...

Yup - I do this. Snatch the Preview Window and stick it over onto another screen, but this is not, "on external monitor for a different comp. screen, " it's the screen being controlled by the laptop I do all my editing on. SO, laptop has the t/l and I can stick the Preview over onto a separate flattie Sony screen . . . . works fab!

Thanks Grazie - but I did get it playin' here:
once I split my monitors(quite the project with my radeon 9600 pro without any man.) get the preview window up and float it over to the 2nd monitor. Here's the trick (for me anyway) I kept trying to grab the left part of the video picture - but you need to grab the left side of the PREVIEW DOCKING WINDOW
