VIRTUAL DUB - its use & usefulness

Having noticed that Virtual Dub keeps showing up in this forum as a tool that many use to supplement Vegas I got Virtual Dub Mod and have started to play around with it.
Because its help files are rather limited I thought it would be useful to many of us newbies if people could share their experiences with it, what they find most useful about it , how to use the interface (key board shortcuts?), etc., etc., ......
- or at least where to get good info about it.

Many thanks - fultro

Basically, VirtualDub is a front-end for the hundreds of different video processing plug-ins that have been written for it. It will also do basic cuts-only editing of a single video file and conversion to different video formats and resolutions. It's a "Swiss Army Knife" type of program and it will do some things that Vegas can't do, most notably, temporal video noise reduction. The Vegas plug-in architecture won't support it. Most of the plug-ins, other than temporal noise reduction, can be used from within Vegas by using Satish's amazing Wax v2.0 plug-in for Vegas.

You can find a lot of VirtualDub filters HERE.

I've never run across any seriously comprehensive documentation for VirtualDub. There is, however, a forum dedicated to VirtualDub, located HERE. Perhaps, reading through the posts in the forum will give you a bit more insight as to what VirtualDub is good for, afterward you can post some questions of your own.
