I have been using "Vegas Movie Maker HD 9.0" for awhile to edit my HD videos that I record with my Flip HD. In the past all of my videos have been under 11 minutes long, but the past 2 times I tried to edit longer videos (each around 30 minutes long) VMM tells me that the file type is "Unknown" when I try and import it and gives me an error "Warning: an error occured while opening one or more files. The reason could not be determined". This has happened for ONLY the two large files (which clock in at about 2GB each) they are in MP4 format, however my shorter videos are also MP4 format but they still can be imported and edited fine.
I tried importing these videos into pinnacle studios, and while the program recognizes them and I get audio, the program itself is giving me audio and video lag problems, so I can't even use that. I have tried using "Media Quick Converter" to convert my file from MP4 into AVI, but everytime I try the program crashes telling me that "Windows Internet Explorer has stopped working properly and the program must be closed", happens everytime and I can't complete a conversion.
Any ideas how to fix this?
