VMS 11 Patch ???

Interesting. If I select Help>Sony on the web>Updates, then I am directed to a link where I can download a file name moviestudiope11.exe, whose size is 165184.
The download link report build 220, but in the notes it is written build 247:
"2.0 What’s New
Notable fixes/changes in version 11.0 (Build 247)
The Burn Blu-ray Disc feature has been updated for compliance with the Blu-ray Disc specification. You can render 3D projects to a Blu-ray 3D Disc image file (.iso) from the timeline (Tools > Burn Disc > Blu-ray Disc). This feature is intended for commercial BD-ROM preparation testing."
If I launch this file, I am asked to uninstall first the existing VMS11.

On the other side, form the link above in this thread, I can download a file named moviestudiope11.0.247.exe, whose size is 165238.
If I launch this file, no request is shown to uninstall the current version and the update procedure seems ok.

Kind of confusing situation...

Btw, in the same link above there are other 2 files that could be an update:
moviestudiope11.0.247.dvda.exe and audiostudio10.0.176.exe

Has anybody tried them ?

@Birk Notable fixes does not mean that these are the only fixes. We never know if some other minor bugs have been fixed.
Usually it always goes like this: only major fixes are reported while minor fixes are hidden (otherwise it would be like admitting that the previous version was very buggy)

It didn't ask me to uninstall VMS PE 11 when I used the combined file. I opened VMS PE 11 after the update and everything was fine. But it did do a number on the DVDA Studio install. But it was easily fixed. The release notes haven't changed since the original file release. So I wouldn't read too much into them when installing these "hidden" updates.

@meksmk

Yes, as I explained a couple of posts above, there is an in-congruence between what can it be download if the update is executed form the help menu vs. what is download from the link in this thread. The .exe downloaded from the link does not ask to uninstall anything.

Interesting that the two patch builds have the same information as the reason for release in the release notes (see my earlier post in this thread).

@Markk655

Yes, you are right!
So, in total we have:

a) 2 updates (build 231 and build 247) with the same release notes
b) build 247, if downloaded from Sony Help menu link the update asks to uninstall the previous version, if downloaded from the link provided up in this thread it does not (and the two file sizes are different)

Very confusing... I wish I could have a word with the guy managing the updates on Sony website ;-)

Looks like the 2 sites sync overnight...The new patch is now available by the Download>Update link in the menu at the top of the page now.

I downloaded the separate DVDA installer, it updated the installation but the software was not available, I had to uninstall and reinstall and re-register to get it to work.

Hmmm. The sticky post at the top of the forum index announcing the latest update (which was for v9 btw) has been deleted.

I guess there aren't enough "notable" fixes between build 220 and 247 for it to be considered an "a" udpate.

I installed the 247 update without problems but now the "contents and Index" files won't open from the help menu

MSmart...

or maybe the difference between VMS 9 to 10 and 10 to 11! :)

Same with me crofter. I wonder if a uninstall/reinstall would fix things? I'll have to try.

Better to open a ticket to Sony Tech Support and report about this bug.
It takes some weeks, but it looks like they do acknowledge about problems.
One question: is the Remove Stabilize button finally enabled with the 247 build ?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having problems. I've been trying to get a simple video rendered for a week. Latest problem was choppy audio, so I'm trying again and I'm back to the program crashing again. VERY frustrated. Just downloaded the latest "fix" ( of 8/03). Keeping my fingers crossed yet again. Suffice to say they're having problems with version 11.

I've gone back to 231, 247 seems a bit flakey.

I'm thinking the server that accepts "Problem Reports" is staying pretty busy, at least from me. Now I CANNOT render ANYTHING without Vegas Movie Studio 11 crashing. I did get an .avi to complete but it had no sound! Just tried as .wmv and it also failed. Build 247 seems worse.

Are they looking at these Problem Reports?
Do they even know there's still a problem?

"Same with me crofter. I wonder if a uninstall/reinstall would fix things? I'll have to try".

After reading your and Crofter's posts I went and tried it on my build 247 and sure enough no help, not in the help file or by pressing F1, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled the 247 build and now the help works.

Just thought you might want to know. I hope that it will work on your machines also.

Thanks for this, I'll probably stay with the previous version until the next update though.

I did the same.
Uninstalled and then re-installed again (running the 247 .exe file).
Now the Help menu works!
