VMS 14 build 105 Preview Screen Corrupt & GPU issues

tom-cubitt wrote on 2/27/2017, 3:22 PM

Just installed VMS 14. Win 10, GTX 460 driver 344.11. Seems more sluggish than 13 but tidier layout.

Preview screen has corruption - bottom right corner has a rectangle inside of which effects do not appear. This is my first post so don't know if file upload will work. Example is still taken with snipping tool. Clip has White balance Fx turned up full just to demo fault. Hope it uploads.

Also, turning on GPU acceleration in Video Settings causes the Preview screen to stop working completely - just black. Both these problems the same whether on second screen as preview or preview as window.

The rendered output is fine strangely so this is "just" a display problem.

Not too impressed so far. Hope someone out there can help.

What happens if you uncheck Split Screen View above the preview screen?

Thanks Cornico - looks like you're on the right track. It cleared the rectangle - permanently it seems. I'll investigate further tomorrow to see if it comes back. I've tried turning on GPU acceleration in Video Settings - still gives be black screen despite toggling split-screen. Is there any way of moving the split screen in addition to just setting it to left half or right half?

I think your black screen has nothing to do with the splitscreen button.
Therefore trying a newer or older grafics driver could be a better option.

Based on my personal experience and posts in another thread, an older driver is the best option.

The Nvidia advanced search doesn't offer anything earlier than 364.51 for that card/OS, although I'm sure earlier drivers could be found with a bit of searching.

See this comment for some tips on rolling back or updating your driver (but bear in mind your card is Fermi2, not Kepler).

372.90 may be worth a shot, based on other reports.
