VMS 6.0 no longer starts up

I am using a desk top computer with Windows XP operating system.

As of a half hour ago, my VMS 6.0 will no longer start up. The initial start-up screen (the one showing the software serial number) turns on, but the probram does not actuially complete starting up and the initial screen will not go away.

Other programs will start and run, but that initial VMS start-up screen is always on top. Only way to get it to go away is to re-boot the computer.

I tried uninstalling the program and re-installing it, but even though the installation wizard says that installation was successfull, the program locks up at the initial VMS start-up screen.

What does the splash screen say it is loading when it hangs? The DirectX plugins perhaps?

I think that the rectangular screen that won't go away is the spash screen.

It is basically orange, has the babe on it holding a video camera, , shows the software serial number, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary showing on this rectangle.
