I have a 30 Min slide/video presentation complete with music. I now need to cut out the first 12 seconds.

How do I cut that time out of the project and keep everything else the same, especialy the audio envelope increases and decreases? I know how to delete the files in that section of time on the tracks, but what I really want to do is cut the entire space of time out of the project. If I group all the files in the project and then slide them forward in the tracks over the area where I just deleted the files, I then have to readjust all the settings in the audio envelope.

What I really want is to cut that whole section out and make the entire rendered file 12 seconds shorter. I really want the opposite of the Insert Time command from the pull down menu.

I hope there is an easy fix. Thank you for your time.

Turn "auto ripple" ON from the toolbar, cut the first 12 seconds away. and the A/V will automatically slide to the left. After you are done with that, turn autoripple OFF again.

Another easy solution is to place the cursor at the 12 second mark and press i to create a loop start point. Move to the end of the video and press o to mark the loop end point. Now when you render check the box that says "render loop region only".

Thank you both, that is exactly what I needed.

Damn .. got to check out those keyboard shortcuts .. that'll save me a *bunch* of time .. scrolling from end to end on 60 min video :-))

You can use the I & O to Render Loop Region, or you can also use I & O to loop a region and hit Delete to remove it.

I like Eugenia's solution the best. It's the way I'd do it.

Alternate: Position cursor, S to split, delete the unwanted first clip, turn on Auto Ripple, drag (the now) first clip to beginning of the track, turn off Auto Ripple.

As pointed out in a different thread, so many options to choose from, your head could explode. ;)
