VMS import .mod files?

My cousin has recently purchased a Canon FS200 which I understand records in .mod file format. He's asked me to recommend an editing program.

Can VMS directly capture .mod files or does he need to convert them to avi first?

Yes, versions 8 and 9 can. However, you will have to setup the widescreen bit of each file manually, because Vegas won't detect that a mod file was widescreen.

You don't need a file editing utility. You just right click on one of these .mod files in the Media Bin of Vegas, and you change the aspect ratio, and then you press the SAVE icon there.
