This is an update to the problems I was having with choppy playback when editing projects in VMS10P containing AVI files produced by Canon digital cameras. My original post regarding this is located at

I must say that I am very disappointed that Sony has done nothing to correct this problem in over a year since the release of VMS10P.
Through much experimentation, I have come up with some observations, and a way of reducing the problem.
First off - If your Preview window is docked to the VMS10P main screen, you MUST undock it (I have it placed on my second monitor). If it is docked, the playback will always be choppy and useless.
Early on, I found that setting "Disable Multi-Core Rendering" (in Options->{SHIFT KEY}Preferences->Internal) to TRUE helped to smooth out the playback somewhat, but later found that this setting can be ignored.
The setting I have found that makes a BIG difference is "fVideoPreviewScaleToFit" (in Options->{SHIFT KEY}Preferences->Internal). Set this to FALSE, and make sure the Preview window is large enough to show the playback in full resolution, and set Preview to AUTO. Playback still isn't as nice as the Vegas Pro 10.0d demo or VMS9.0b, but I think I may be able to work with it.
I'll add more updates if I discover anything else.
Hopefully Sony will release the long-overdue patch for VMS10P before the release of VMS11P.
In the meantime, I hope the info above will help others to obtain better playback results.
