VMS17 track motion

EfGe wrote on 1/14/2022, 6:04 AM

I want to enable and use track motion for multiple events on the same track, but each event/clip to have different track motion.

As far as I know I can only use track motion per track, but clicking on the sandwich menu on the left side of the name of the track, which then of course works for all events on the same track.

Is it possible to do it per event/clip instead? I can't find the way to do so. I don't want to create extra tracks just for each even. (they are basically text with different settings).

Track Motion affects the entire track.

No. Instead, try Pan/Crop at the event level.

Thank you.

Pan Crop I can't make it work as I want it. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but right now I can't figure it out.

The text is white with a solid black background, I move the text (pan/crop), but it disappears. Oh I am not in the right state of mind to explain.

Thank you for your reply.

Pan/Crop is very dependent on your original media's aspect ratio - if your media is less than your project's aspect ratio settings, then there will be a limitation on framing in Pan/Crop. Track Motion overcomes that - but Track Motion by its very name affects the entire track and consequently affects any video event that appears on that track. Different Track Motion settings require a different track for each setting. Is there not positioning settings available in the titling process that you are using?

Yes, but because I have the black background too, the text moves outside of the black background when I do so. I am sure there is something with masking I could do, but I am trying to find an easy/lazy way out of it.

Assuming that you are using Titles and Text, is the Frame Size set to the same dimensions as your project settings?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but two other suggestions:

  1. Use PIP FX on the Event
  2. Animate your Track Motion with Keyframes Use Hold for the keyframes. You can then have different Track Motion on the track with each keyframe change coinciding with each Event. This avoids having a track for each Event.
